Thanksgiving
Just wondering how everyone was going to do on Thansgiving and what I should do while waiting for the T back home, I was invitied to celebrate this day in an American family. (Thank you, Mike) It was an experience that I will never forget.
Everyone arrived Mike’s place around 2 pm. We introduced ourselves, and chatted. (Felt nervous about what I should talk about all the time =P, but still fun and liked it) Then I learned that it took about four hours to cook the turkey and we should always keep an eye on the turkey all the time…a lot of hard work!!! While waiting for the turkey to be ready, we watched the football game. We discussed the rule of the football and why football is called football. Isn’t it weird to call football football since people do not use their feet to play the sport all the time? Then we talked about NBA. Well, I like the NBA experience I had previously. I think what NBA sells is more than sports, it sells experiences. There normally are cheerleading performances and basketball stunt shows between the breaks. People will not feel bored while during a break. However, some may think that NBA loses the focus on basketball profession if there are too many other things going on and that how come people need to be told to cheer for their team. I also learned how to taste wine! Thank you Stephanie. Or I would embarrase myself in front of people in a formal situation if I didn’t know how to taste wine…..(And the wine did taste differently after using the way Stephanie suggested)
Around 4 pm, the dinner was ready! The turkey was great! It was even better with the smashed potatoes.
After the meal and before starting the dessert, we played games =) It’s called Partini. We grouped ourselves into three and had competition. We draw a category card first to decide which category to compete. There are six categories: Hum Puch, What Not, Mime Twist, Clay Smoothing, and something you played with balls and cups…and the last one I couldn’t remember the name….In Hum Punch, you have to hum the designated song and your teammate guest what the song is. In What Not, you said the category first, and use negative statements to decribe the objects. For example, you describe carrot and pumpkin by saying it’s not apple pie, it’s not fruits, it’s not juicy etc in the orange category. In Mime Twist, you also mentioned the category first, and then you describe the object by behaviors or acting. In Clay smoothing, you use clay do describe the objects. The most fun one I think is the one you have to play with the balls and cups. I think this one is really creative because there are so many types of games you can play only with two balls and five cups! We got really excited when we played this one.
It really was a fantastic experience! I had wonderful meals and exciting games, and the most important of all is having a great time with friends. There was no better way to celebrate Thanksgiving like this!

When will you come back?
Miss you so much.
Good to see you here
